Assignment Content Manager (Full-Time, Regular)
WJBK's News Department is seeking an individual for an immediate opportunity as an Assignment Content Manager. This individual will have a supervisory role in the multitude of functions performed by a successful assignment desk. Key responsibilities for daily news operations include: coordinating and managing the operation of the assignment desk, which investigates and sets up stories for reporters on a daily basis, and assigns reporters and photographers with precise attention to logistics. This individual will be required to multitask and handle high stress situations, match coverage needs with available resources, verify story details, adjust instantaneously to breaking news situations, and maintain ongoing dialogue with broadcast and digital producers. Individual will be responsible for key planning activities, which include: looking ahead to make sure scheduled events like court hearings, news conferences and major sporting events are listed for coverage and covered with necessary staffing, along with servicing all of our platforms. Must also maintain sufficient staff levels on all shifts, processing vacation requests and sick calls, managing per diem staff and shift selection in accordance with union agreements, verification of hours worked, and bi-weekly approval of timecards.

Must have strong knowledge of television news and digital production techniques, as well as, newsroom computer systems. Must demonstrate strong news judgment, problem-solving skills and commitment to journalistic principles. We require a command of social media involvement with viewers and users. A geographical and historical knowledge of Metro Detroit is a strong plus. Must be a good communicator with proven supervisory skills, and the demonstrated ability to create and support a collaborative team environment. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required. Three plus years in a medium to major market newsroom environment with direct assignment desk experience. Must have command of local and national events and recognize important developments in those stories. Must have ability to cultivate and maintain sources for newsgathering purposes, and conceive enterprising stories unique to WJBK-Fox 2. The successful candidate will possess complete reliability in accurately gathering, recording and sharing information to our reporters, producers, social media and website.

Will be responsible for generating stories, actively engaged in daily news gathering, writing accurate broadcast copy for multiple platforms, including website and social media. Also responsible for coordinating coverage with the assignment desk and reporters. May be called on upon to field produce or write for other newscasts. Will create graphics and edit video for air and booth live newscasts during breaking news. Other duties as deemed appropriate and as assigned.Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required. The candidate must possess a minimum of three years’ experience as a television newscast producer in a medium to major market.  Candidate must have strong news judgment, good writing skills, knowledge of current events, excellent communication and people skills. Sales Assistant (Full-Time, Regular)
WJBK's Sales Department is seeking an individual for an immediate opportunity as a Sales Assistant. Individual will perform administrative and office support activities for the Local Sales Manager and the Local Account Executives. Key responsibilities include assisting with proposals, weekly posting, inputting orders and solving discrepancies. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for maintaining all prime and sports boards, including formats and format changes; maintain ticket requests and distribution of tickets; run and distribute preemption reports for both Local and National Accounts; paid programming, view tapes and input orders; pull and email spot times for necessary clients; local and national pending reports (weekly); maintain and process Local Sales Manager expense reports; coordinate travel for Sales Management; answering phones, assisting clients, taking messages; and ordering supplies.    

Understanding of local spot television industry as a whole especially as it pertains to advertisers, commercials and spot log reporting highly preferred. Must have the proven ability to multi-task with multiple clients and multiple duties within the traffic system. Must have strong organizational and verbal communication skills.

Sound attention to detail is critical. Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook. Traffic Assistant (Full-Time, Regular)
WJBK's Traffic Department is seeking an individual for an immediate opportunity as a Traffic Assistant.
Individual will be responsible for the accuracy of commercial spot placement, managing the inventory to ensure separation and maximization of inventory. Works closely with Sales Managers to ensure inventory is not unsold. Maintains related reports. Individual prints and distributes daily log and provides support to traffic personnel. In addition, candidate also serves as backup in Copy by maintaining commercial information to ensure accuracy of commercials aired. Responsibilities include maintaining commercial files, contacting ad agencies and gathering materials for production. Other duties as deemed appropriate to be assigned.

Photographer/Editor (Regular, Full-Time)
WJBK’s News Department is seeking an individual for an immediate opportunity as a Photographer/Editor.  Candidate will shoot and edit news stories and special events.  They must operate live truck and other ENG equipment, as well as establish live shots, as required by the news department. The individual must operate communications equipment in live trucks. They must operate equipment in ENG receive including: tuning in microwave and live shots; utilizing machines for record/dub/edit purposes; downlinking satellite transmissions. This person must utilize various communications equipment for both in-house and field communications. This person must also understand the use of good lighting, photographic, audio and editing techniques as required in the production of quality news. Perform other duties as deemed appropriate and as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, or broadcast required. Minimum of four years’ experience as a news photographer/editor. Knowledge of basic journalism and production techniques. Experience with the operation of a P2 camera, P2 editing equipment, and non-linear experience. The individuals will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing a winning digital sales strategy for their respective markets.
