Company Origins
Say-hey-hey was founded by two single guys from Palo Alto (Stanford), California. (Also known as Boozer007 and SexyRussian24.)
The two guys were looking for a way to get people together in a manner that's far more real and useful than a static picture and a few (all-too-common) words.
One of the guys had tried online dating only to find that online profiles don't provide you with much of a sense of the actual person. He also discovered that quite often people look considerably different in their (very best) photo than they do in real life...
The other guy (alcoholic) had spent years at local hot-spots (dive bars) trying (desperately) to meet women. And, while he occasionally found someone of interest (scored) he simply didn't meet enough women to find his match. (He's also kinda chubby so he was shot down on approach before his kick-ass personality could shine through).
Free Online Video Dating makes sense.
First, it's free. Power to the people. Second, it's online - and that allows for you to see more people and for far more people to see you than ever before. Tag-based searches allow you to find people of similar interests without the use of long (often useless) questionnaires. Lastly, and most importantly, it's video-based. And that makes it real.
